Oliver Wahlstrom's camp and the New York Islanders are scheduled to appear before an arbitrator seven days from today.
The Islanders sent the 23-year-old restricted free agent forward a qualifying offer worth 917,831, a year after he signed his QO worth $874,000 last summer despite having an interest in a multi-year deal:
In arbitration hearings, the player's camp will try to get their player a higher salary while the team tries to make its case that the number they offer is reasonable.
The arbitrator will have 48 hours to make a ruling on this case, Aug. 3, but it's still possible that this hearing never happens.
The NHL saw 14 RFAs file for arbitration, with eight of them signing before even heading to court.
So, Wahlstrom is one of six players who have yet to settle.
So, will he and the Islanders, who have $50,000 in available cap space and no room for Wahlstrom on the NHL roster, settle, or will Wahlstrom be moved?
Or do the two sides go to arbitration?
Time will tell.
