Orange & Bluelines: Islanders One-Liners

One week certainly doesn't make a season; nor does a month of NHL hockey. But this much is certain; every game does make a difference. Here are some of my top observations from Islanders games since last Friday.

But this much is certain; every game does make a difference. Opinions, candor, and a touch of humor. Drop the puck; here we go:

* Any thoughts about the Isles winning 82 in a row were dissipated.

* Not even 79 in a row.

* Training camp is one thing; the real thing IS the real thing.

* Best roster mystery of the new season has to be "who'll be the third man on New York's Barzal-Bo Line?"

* Breaking News: It's still a work in progress!

* Non-Breaking News: Both Sorokin and Varly remain at the top of their goalkeeping games.

* Also Non-breaking news: The first month of the season isn't even over yet. CALM DOWN!.

* Lambert's genuine line gamble needs more work: Pageau-Holmstrom-Clutterbuck -- good for a pair of red lights vs. Colorado -- could be a long range pleasant surprise.

* Early Isles pealties give me a colossal pain in the neck.

* Not too much fun for the PK guys as proven by Captain Lee's minor that put his club down 1-0 against the PP loaded Avs.

* Come back; come back wherever you are, Scott Mayfield. Your physicality is sorely missed.

* Best Forward Line so far? Nelson, Engvall, Palmieri. Proof: it's the only trio that's remained intact.

* In futre back to backs, a few vets should be rested and replaced by the younger, faster lads.

* Yoo-Hoo, Adam Pelech:-- Consider this a wake-up call. Time to become ADAM PELECH.

* Good for Noah Dobson who's responded to being "The Horse Defenseman."
