The Canadiens acquired Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets this summer, but he's been out with a knee injury that he suffered in preseason.

On Tuesday night, forward Patrik Laine will make his Montreal Canadiens debut when they host the New York Islanders at 7 PM ET.

The 26-year-old, who was traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets along with a 20206 second-round pick to Montreal this summer for defenseman Jordan Harris, suffered a long-term knee injury during a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.:

After suffering a broken clavicle in his 18th game of the season last year, Laine entered the NHL's Players Assistance Program and did not play again. 

So, Tuesday night will be a big moment for Laine, who lines up alongside Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky on Montreal's second line against Long Island.

In 13 career games against the Islanders, Laine has two goals and five assists for seven points. 

He last played against Long Island on Nov. 12, 2022, a 4-3 overtime win for the Islanders in which he went pointless.
