Paul Bissonnette, a longtime nemesis of the Islanders fanbase, has had a change of heart.
With less than a month to go before the New York Islanders kick off their season, Barstool Sports' Spittin' Chiclets held their season preview for all the teams in the Metropolitan Division.
However, it was Paul Bissonnette, a longtime nemesis of the fanbase, who tried to extend an olive branch.
On Monday's show, he claimed that the Islanders would find a way to make the playoffs this season, citing the team's resurgence under head coach Patrick Roy.
"I kinda look at it, boys, as the Vancouver situation," Bissonnette said. "[Rick Tocchet] was able to come in at the end of the year two years ago, kinda see what's wrong, some characteristic differences... have the offseason in order to adjust and make these changes."
Also appearing on the show was Islanders superfan Frankie Borrelli.
When asked about his expectations, he echoed Bissonette's sentiments.
"The Islanders didn't make many moves this year. What they did do is they brought in new coaching," Borrelli said, also lauding the hire of Tommy Albelin for their defense and penalty kill.
After the discussion, Bissonnette said he might even be softening up towards the team.
"I hate to say that, but I think they're going to make the playoffs," Bissonnette added. "I'm kind of starting to love Lou (Lamoriello) too. I've been very critical of him in the past with how controlling he is. But now that I have a little bit of discipline in my life -- I kind of need that structure in my life--so I got the Islanders making playoffs."
