The New York Islanders have yet to name a new president or general manager as they continue their interview process.

It's quite possible that they are waiting to see who else becomes available as teams are eliminated in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Scott White, who serves as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Dallas Stars and the general manager of the Texas Stars, could be a possibility.

He took over as Director of Hockey Ops ahead of the 2013-14 season, with Dallas making the playoffs in eight of those 12 years and six of the last seven. He’s had tremendous success developing their minor-league program, as he’s the only GM the teams have had since their first season back in 2009-10.

White has won a Calder Cup, his division three times, and saw his minor league team play in three Calder Cup Finals.

If the Stars were willing to let him go, would he be interested in joining the Islanders and helping to revamp their team from Bridgeport on up?

It seems clear that the Islanders are looking for experience in their search, and White has experience. However, his experience might be too minor-league-oriented, which could be why he hasn't landed a GM job yet.

The Islanders, contrary to popular belief, do have time to wait.

Dallas currently has a 3-1 series lead over the Winnipeg Jets, so if White is someone they want to talk to officially, they will have to wait.
