Projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Matthew Schaefer, joined Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals' broadcast to discuss his week at the combine and the Stanley Cup Final:
During the interview, Schaefer commended the New York Islanders organization and recently appointed GM Mathieu Darche, stating it would be "awesome" to join the franchise.
The Islanders can select Schaefer with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on Friday, June 27.
Until then, Darche will continue assembling his front office staff, and Schaefer will enjoy the playoffs before officially hearing his name called.
