New York Islanders prospect Ruslan Iskhakov and CSKA Moscow were back in action on Tuesday as they defeated Sibir Novosibirsk 8-2.
Iskhakov continued where he left off, scoring for the second straight game while adding an assist for his first two-point performance in the KHL, skating on the third line for a third straight game.
His assist at 4:20 of the second period showed off an unwillingness to give up on a play.
After losing a tough draw, the 24-year-old won the puck back before Sibir could exit the zone, dishing a quick and accurate backhand feed to linemate Denis Gurianov.
The former Dallas Stars forward made no mistake in tight, roofing one high blocker side to extend CSKA's lead to 4-1:
Then, with CSKA up 7-1, Iskhakov showed off his shot, sniping from at the left dot on the power play to make it an 8-2 game with 34 seconds to go in the game:
After struggling in the face-off dot through the first two games (26.67%), Iskhakov went 7-for-13 (53.8%) in 15:53 minutes of ice time, 13:58 at even strength, and 1:55 on the power play.
He also took his first penalty of the season.
Through three games, Iskhakov has two goals and one assist, averaging 17:20 minutes per game.
