After being named "Top Scorer" of the Moscow Mayor's Cup, New York Islanders prospect Ruslan Iskhakov struggled in his KHL debut.
So did his team, CSKA Moscow.
They fell 4-2 to Spartak Moscow, the former team of Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov.
Playing as the third-line center alongside former NHLer Denis Gurianov and seven-year KHL vet Ivan Drozdov, Iskhakov failed to record a point.
He also went 1-for-6 in the face-off dot, a mere 16.67%.
Per Hockey News Hub, Iskhakov took 20 shifts and played a total of 17:49 minutes. He played just under 12 minutes at even strength (11:57), with the remaining 5:45 coming on the power play.
He played on the top power-play unit, lining up at the left-wing position.
Iskhakov took one shift on the penalty kill, for seven seconds.
Iskhakov and CSKA Moscow will be back in action on Sept. 8 at 10:AM ET against Vladivostok.
Iskhakov, 24, signed a two-year deal with CSKA Moscow this summer, but Islanders hold his rights until he turns 27, so we will continue to cover him.
