The Islanders won't face Jordan Eberle on Saturday.

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Kraken will be without their captain and former New York Islanders forward Jordan Eberle when they battle his old squad on Saturday afternoon.

The 34-year-old, who spent four seasons with the Islanders, slammed hard into the end boards in the second period of their 3-1 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night before needing to be helped off the ice:

He did not return for the remainder of the game due to a lower-body injury.

Per Kraken radio host Mike Benton, Seattle head coach Dan Bylsma said that Eberle will miss their games against the Islanders and the New York Rangers, who they play on Sunday, with a return date likely early next week:

It's only fitting that a former Islanders player gets hurt before the Islanders come to town, given their list of injuries so far this season.

Mathew Barzal, who views Eberle as his big brother, has missed seven games due to an upper-body injury. Anthony Duclair should be nearing a return soon but has missed the last 12.

Defensemen Adam Pelech, Mike Reilly, and Alexander Romanov have all missed the last six games with upper-body injuries.
