EAST MEADOW, NY -- Ahead of their battle with the Anaheim Ducks, the New York Islanders have activated defenseman Sebastian Aho out of injured reserve.
The 27-year-old has missed the last eight games with an upper-body injury after falling awkwardly into the boards in the first period of their 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Nov. 24.
In his absence, the Islanders acquired Mike Reilly and Robert Bortuzzo, with injuries to fellow defenseman Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock.
Based on line rushes Wednesday morning, it seems that Aho will hop into the lineup in place of Scott Mayfield alongside Reilly, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
"He brings puck movement and makes good decisions," Lambert said on Aho. "And depending on who he plays with, that's just kind of his game, and if it happens to be Rielly that he's paired with, they should be able to move the puck pretty well."
