Domi didn't get away with an elbow against the Flyers on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi received a two-minute penalty for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Garnett Hathaway at 5:13 of the third period:
On Monday, he was fined $5,000.
Just a few days earlier, Domi received backlash from the New York Islanders faithful after his elbow made contact with rookie Isaiah George's chin in the second period on a reverse hit.
George left the game and did not return, entering concussion protocol.
No penalty was called during the play, and George is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
At the moment, Domi's elbow on Hathaway was much more noticeable, which is why the referee raised his hand. Against George, depending on the angle, it was hard to judge.
And with no call on the play, there was no review possible.
Although there was no penalty, the NHL's Department of Player Safety could have reviewed the hit and recommended a punishment.
They did not, meaning they didn't see anything that warranted discipline.
