Goaltender Tristan Jarry has three years left on his deal.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed goaltender Tristan Jarry, 29, on waivers:
In 22 games this season, he has an 8-8-4 record with a 3.31 GAA and an. 886 SV%. In 279 career regular-season games, he holds a 144-93-29 record with a 2.75 GAA and .910 SV%.
Jarry has been in the opposing crease to the New York Islanders quite a few times in his career.
In 15 career regular-season games against the Isles, Jarry holds an 11-4-1 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .918 SV%. However, he has struggled of late, posting a 1-3-1 record with a 3.31 GAA and .891 SV% in his five most recent contests against the Islanders.
While he has historically had success against his divisional opponent, his bout against the Islanders in the playoffs was another story.
In the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the East Division champion Penguins took on the fourth-seed Islanders.
The netminder gave up four goals in an overtime loss in Game 1, then saved 63 of the next 68 shots he faced in Games 2 and 3 to lead his team to victories.
From there, the Islanders had his number.
Down two games to one in the series, the Islanders won three straight games to advance to the second round. In those three games, they put 12 pucks past Jarry on just 78 shots, good for a .846 SV%.
Game 5 created a memory and a highlight that will last a lifetime for Islanders fans:

Jarry's toughest night came in Game 6 when he conceded five goals on 24 shots in a 5-3 defeat.
The Islanders proceeded to fall just short of reaching the Stanley Cup Final, while the Penguins have made the playoffs just one season since.
Jarry is currently in the second season of a five-year deal worth $26.88 million.
