Safe to say that the Vancouver Canucks are regretting their decision to sign J.T. Miller over Bo Horvat.

A few weeks ago, I spoke with New York Islanders alternate captain Bo Horvat about the ongoing feud between his former Vancouver Canucks teammates J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.

He provided details on both players and the situation.

But one thing that came up in the conversation was the Canucks' and how they handled Horvat's contract negotiations.

"Honestly, the way it was all handled is what I was most upset about," Horvat said. "They said one thing, and they did the complete opposite. It's just frustrating when you are told one thing, and the opposite happens. That's not to say I'm not happy where I am right now.

"Obviously, I love Long Island, love being here, and I'm happy to be here, but, yeah, just the way it was all handled rubbed me the wrong way. But at the same time, everything happens for a reason, and that's why I'm here. I couldn't be happier."

So, when I saw a tweet on Friday from trusted Canucks voice  Rick Dhaliwal, it made complete sense.

From Horvat's words and this latest intel, it's easy to infer that Horvat expected, or at least hoped, to be signed long-term.

This would have made it impossible for Vancouver to sign Miller, too.

But instead, the organization signed Miller.

Now, with Miller struggling mightily on the ice and clearly playing a negative role within the room and the culture, it's safe to say that Vancouver may be regretting their decision.
