It became abundantly clear after New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello spoke with the media in San Jose that the goal was to keep Brock Nelson.

However, Nelson's camp said no to the rumored three-year offer worth north of $7.5 million annually, which meant Lamoriello had no choice but to deal him.

We all knew that Nelson would bring back a haul as he was the No. 1 name on trade-deadline lists, if made available.

But, what did he demand from interested parties?

Lamoriello didn't have to adjust his demands because that's how good the market was for a scoring, two-way center like Nelson.

And the Avalanche were one of the teams who agreed to the demand, sending their 2023 first-round pick (No. 27) Calum Ritchie, a 20-year-old centerman who will be in the Islanders' lineup in 2025-26.

The question is, what other prospects from other teams were offered up?

We likley will never get that answer and Nelson's 15-team no-trade list also played a role in seeing him land in the Mile High City.
