New York Islanders 2022 third-round pick Quinn Finley has been invited to represent Team USA at the 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase.

New York Islanders 2022 third-round pick Quinn Finley has been invited to represent Team USA at the 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase.

On Thursday, United States Hockey announced the 44 players that have been invited to compete in the 2023 World Junior Showcase.

New York Islanders 2022 third-round pick Quinn Finley earned an invitation after a successful third season in the United States Hockey League

The six-foot, 178-pound 18-year-old played for two different teams during the 2022-23 season, as he was involved in a trade sending him from the Madison Capitols back to his first USHL team, the Chicago Steel.

In 23 games for Madison, Finley recorded 10 goals with 17 assists before setting career highs with 15 goals and 23 assists in 32 games with Chicago.

"I just think my high IQ, playmaking ability, I think just creating those scoring opportunities for myself and for my teammates (are my strengths),” Finley said when we spoke with him at the 2022 NHL Draft.

“I’m super proud. I can’t wait to hopefully someday be a New York Islander."

When asked who Finley models his game after, he picked two high-level NHLers.

“I try to model my game after Kyle Connor and Jonathan Huberdeau,” Finley said. “I mean, they are super playmakers so I think trying to model my game after those guys."

Finley, a Wisconsin native, will be playing for the Wisconsin Badgers in 2023-24 as a true freshman.

The World Junior Summer Showcase will take place in Plymouth, Michigan, from July 27th to August 4th.
