Duclair is going to be out for a bit.

EAST MEADOW, NY -- When the New York Islanders hit the ice on Monday for practice, forward Anthony Duclair was absent.

And he's going to miss some time, per Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello.

“We won’t know until the next 24 hours or so just how serious the injury will be,” Lamoriello said. “It will be more long-term than short-term at this point. It certainly is not season-ending or anything. But the time frame, we just have to get more results from the x-rays and MRIs.”

The 29-year-old, who signed a four-year deal worth $3.5 million annually, suffered a lower-body injury 3:19 into the third period of Saturday's wild 4-3, nine-round shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens.

After cutting to the slot, he got twisted up falling to the ice. He needed to be helped off the ice, going right to the room, and did not return:

He has two goals and one assist in four games playing on the top line and top power-play unit.

Notes: The Islanders placed forward Julien Gauthier on waivers Sunday. We will know by 2 PM ET if he passes through. Lamoriello did say that they will be calling someone up from Bridgeport.
