Bridgeport moves to a record of 3-5-1-0 after their weekend slate.
On Saturday night, Bridgeport gave up three unanswered goals to Hershey after scoring the first goal in a 3-1 loss. The Bears scored their final two goals over a 25-second span.
The Islanders AHL affiliate won their first regulation win of the season on Sunday, a comeback win if you will, trailing by a goal in the third period for the 3-2 victory.
This game was also the 2023-24 debut of the Fisherman jerseys for Bridgeport.
Samuel Asselin continued to stay hot as he scored first for Bridgeport in both games and now has three goals in his last four outings.
The captain, Seth Helgeson, got his first point of the year, assisting on Asselin's goal against Springfield. William Dufour also found the scoresheet, getting the other assist on the goal.
Robin Salo made a significant impact on Sunday afternoon with two points.
First, it was an assist on the game-tying goal courtesy of Matthew Maggio, who buried Salo's rebound for his third of the season:
Kyle Maclean had the secondary assist. He has four points in nine games.
Shortly after, it was Salo burying a rebound of his own to put Bridgeport in front with their first lead with under six minutes to play for the game-winner:
This was Salo's second game-winner of the season. The first came in overtime during the team's home opener against Utica.
Karson Kuhlman got his first point with the Islanders organization with the primary assist on Salo's goal. Otto Koivula had the secondary.
Jakub Skarek lost his start on Friday, allowing three goals on 23 shots, falling to 2-3-1-0 with an .893 SV% and a 2.82 GAA.
Ken Appleby got his first win of the season in his 100th AHL game on Sunday, making 17 saves on 19 shots.
Bridgeport continues its homestand this weekend with two big Atlantic Division matchups.
Friday, November 10 at 7 PM is the first installment of the Battle of Connecticut, when the Hartford Wolf Pack will come to Total Mortgage Arena on Saturday, November 11.
The Thunderbirds are back in town on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, with puck drop at 7 PM.
