Brock Nelson tied USA hockey history at the 2024 IIHF World Championships. Check out what he accomplished and his highlights.

On Thursday, New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson and Team USA were sent home from the IIHF World Championships after losing 1-0 to the host Czechia in the Quarter Finals.

It was a disappointing end for Nelson and the Americans, with Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha scoring the lone goal of the contest at 6:39 of the second period.

Anaheim Ducks backup netminder Lukas Dostal stole the show, stopping all 36 shots that came his way, including two off the stick of Nelson.

The Islanders alternate captain, who is eligible to sign an extension on July 1, had a solid showing at the tournament.

In eight games, playing on a line with Minnesota Wild's rising star Matt Boldy and Columbus Blue Jackets veteran and once-a-star for the Calgary Flames, Johnny Gaudreau, Nelson potted three goals and four assists for seven points.

Scoring his seventh goal of the tournament on May 19 in a 10-1 dominance against Kazakhstan, Nelson tied Russell "Buzz" Johnson for the all-time lead in career goals for Team USA at the IIHF Mens World Championships.

Johnson represented Team USA from 1947 to 1950.

Here are Nelson's other two goals of the tournament, starting with a five-hole dagger just 36 seconds into their game against France, which served as the game-winner in a 5-0 victory:

Here he is going top shelf against Sweden:

Nelson ranked third on Team USA in goals, while his four assists and seven points ranked sixth.

Linemate Gaudreau had three goals and eight assists for 11 points, which put him in the USA Hockey record books. His 43 points surpassed Patrick Kane (42) for most points all-time for his country.

Nelson's other linemate, Boldy, ended his tournament with six goals and eight assists for 14 points, which led the team.

Up next for Nelson is likely The Beauty League, which is held in Minnesota every summer. Hudson Fasching, Anders Lee, Mike Reilly, and a few other Islanders players usually play there as well.

As mentioned prior, Nelson could be the owner of a new contract by the start of the summer league, which begins on July 10.
