On Wednesday night, the New York Islanders home at UBS Arena hosted the VMAs.
While most in attendance were thinking about the next performance, the next award winner, former MTV's Total Request and MTV Live host Carson Daly and his son only had one thing on their mind.
Islanders hockey.
"You have no idea how weird this is for us," Daley said. "We're die-hard Islanders fans [...] We're like 28, 29 days away from hockey season starting. We'll be here for the opening game.
"Honestly, when I saw that the VMAs were at UBS -- I haven't been to the VMAs in many years -- that was the driving force behind my wanting to come back."
His interview ended with a "Let's Go Islanders" chant.
Have a watch:
Daly, a native of Santa Monica, California, became an Islanders fan when he moved to Long Island in 2013.
He told MSG Network host Shannon Hogan at the start of last season that he came to appreciate the Islanders because his kids go to school with the Islanders' players kids.
"We know each other through our children," Daley told Hogan. "We talk hockey, just dads."
I bet if Daly and his son could have worn Islanders jerseys to the VMAs, they would have.
