The New York Islanders let Hudson Fasching walk away as an unrestricted free agent following the end of the 2024-25 season, when he signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
However, despite Fasching's near 150 games over three seasons with the Islanders, Columbus never gave Fasching a game.
Instead, the hard-working veteran played 65 games for their AHL club, the Cleveland Monsters, posting seven goals and 18 assists.
Fasching now heads off to Europe for the first time in his career, as he signed with defending SHL Champions, Skellefteå AIK on a one-year deal.
Skellefteå has won two of the last three SHL titles, and is a great team and landing spot for Fasching to land.
Fasching played 137 games with the Islanders from 2022 until 2025. He scored 16 goals and 37 points. He also appeared in 10 playoff games for the Islanders.
