Former New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo planned to celebrate his day with the Stanley Cup in his home state of Minnesota.
At 9:30 AM CT, Okposo was scheduled to take pictures at Pagel Arena in Minnetonka.
However, Okposo's event has been canceled due to the global Microsoft IT outage, which has affected the Stanley Cup's transportation from St. Louis after Matthew Tkachuk had his day with it.
“I’m crushed,” Okposo told The Athletic's Michael Russo.
Okposo had to wait 17 years after breaking into the NHL to win a Stanley Cup. Now, his day with Lord Stanley is in jeopardy.
He'll get another opportunity if it can't get to Minnesota today.
The Microsoft outage seems to have stemmed from a software update that was corrupted, not a cyber attack of any kind.
NHL.com's Jessi Pierce shared that the event could be moved to later today or tomorrow, but that's yet to be determined.
