Barzal will get to show off his speed Friday night.

With the NHL All Star Weekend fast approaching, the league announced the participants in Friday’s All Star Skills conte. For the New York Islanders, Mathew Barzal will appear in four events, including the Fastest Skater.

Barzal was added to the All-Star Skills Competition on Tuesday, replacing injured New Jersey Devils’ All Star Jack Hughes.

Barzal won the Fastest Skater event in 2020, ending MVP forward Connor McDavid’s streak of three-straight years winning the event with a 13.310 hot lap:

Barzal will also appear in the Scotiabank NHL Passing Challenge, Tim Horton’s NHL One Timers and Upper Deck NHL Stick Handling events.

No. 13 will compete alongside 11 other All-Stars, the top eight will advance to the NHL Honda Shootout. The top six finishers in the shootout will advance to the NHL Obstacle Course, and the winner of that event will take home $1 million,

The festivities begin on Thursday night with the NHL All-Star Player Draft; the game itself will be played on Saturday afternoon.
