The New York Islanders are expected to have Anthony Duclair back in their lineup against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.
So, the question is, what decision will the Islanders make to become salary cap and roster compliant?
The easy answer is to send goalie Semyon Varlamov ($2.75M) and defenseman Mike Reilly ($1.25M) from injured reserve to long-term injured reserve retroactively to the date of their injuries, which would fix the cap situation (creating $4 million).
But the Islanders would also need to create a roster spot, so it's likely that forward Pierre Engvall, who cleared waivers on Saturday, will be sent to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League despite having a strong showing in their 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
