Two years ago today, the New York Islanders acquired Bo Horvat.

Islanders Sign Tony DeAngelo

When the New York Islanders battle the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night, it will be an anniversary of sorts for forward Bo Horvat.

On Jan 30, 2023, Horvat was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks during the 2023 NHL All-Star Break.

He came to Long Island, with general manager Lou Lamoriello sending Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Räty, and a 2023 conditional first-round pick to Vancouver.

The Canucks flipped that pick to the Detroit Red Wings for Filip Hronek.

Ironically, after the All-Star festivities concluded, Horvat's first game in an Islanders uniform was against the Flyers in Philadelphia, a 2-1 win.

The Islanders will hope to mimic the result as they try to inch within two points of a wild-card spot after a season that has been a roller coaster.

Horvat himself has been on a tear. He enters Thursday's game on a six-game points streak with five goals and three assists.

It's the second-longest point streak of his Islanders career.

He went 11 straight games with a point from Nov 28, 2023, to Dec. 19, 2023, recording eight goals and nine assists over that span.

One of the biggest reasons for the Islanders' five-game winning streak and their ability to win eight of their last 10 games has been because of Horvat's increase in his finishing, something that he struggled with early in the season.

When he's firing on all cylinders, Horvat is a game-changer and he's showing right now just how dynamic he can be, leading the Islanders' turnaround.
