Patrick Roy on the island has Sean Avery shaking in his skates.

The New York Islanders are often a team that many hockey media personalities like to rag on, for lack of a better word.

Hockey personality, co-host of Spittin’ Chiclets, and TNT panel member Paul Bissonette has been known for jawing with Islanders fans in the past, and that escalated into this season, including many bouts with Islanders legend Butch Goring.

Sean Avery, former New York Ranger, and NHL grinder, has often voiced his displeasure with the Islanders franchise.

Now, with Patrick Roy as the bench boss, both referenced as “Islander haters” by fans have changed their tune and are nervous to see what the Islanders can accomplish with their new fiery coach.

Avery mentioned on his Full Send podcast his disdain for the Islanders and what this hiring could mean.

“I find myself perplexed because I f—-n hate the New York Islanders. I hate their greasy fans. I hate their pesky team,” Avery said. “The problem is Lou Lamoriello, that old school G,’ just hired Patty Roy to be the head coach.”

Avery is nervous to see this current Islanders roster’s future with a brand-new, highly sought-after coach who knows how to win.

“Patrick Roy is a dog,” Avery said. “The pesky Islanders have now officially in my mind, and it f—--n pains me, but the Islanders could be a real problem.”

These words came shortly after Bissonnette shared his immediate thoughts on the Roy hiring.

Roy won his first game as the Islanders' head coach, a 3-2 overtime victory over the Dallas Stars. The Roy era will continue Tuesday night as the Islanders host the Vegas Golden Knights at UBS Arena.
