Less than two days after the NHL’s qualifying offer deadline passed, New York Islanders forward Simon Holmstrom signed a one-year contract with the team on Tuesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it seems like he signed for under $900,000, which is how much cap space the Islanders had prior to the deal:
Holmstrom, 23, finished his first full campaign in the NHL this season.
He appeared in 75 games, totaling 15 goals and 10 assists for 25 points. While his scoring pace tapered off in the second half, he was largely known for his shorthanded production early in the season alongside Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
With Holmstrom signed, their lone remaining restricted free agent is Oliver Wahlstrom, who filed for salary arbitration. A date for the hearing is August 1.
