After a few conversations with THN, Stan Fischler (and his camp), I’m thrilled to be coming aboard as their Islanders beat reporter!

Stefen Rosner Joins THNStefen Rosner Joins THN

My life changed when I got introduced to hockey. I wanted to play. I wanted to watch.

I wanted to learn.

It not only became a passion, but my father’s love for the sport created a never-ending bond.

From playing the NHL video games circa early 2000 to the countless trips to my practices to my games, to NHL games, hockey took over the Rosner household.
I became obsessed, especially with the goaltender position, the way their bodies worked like computers, calculating every possible shot and every necessary motion to stop the puck.

The windmill glove saves, the stacking of the pads, and the split saves were kinda cool, too.

If anyone asked me what my dream was, being a goaltender in the National Hockey League was all I wanted–like every child that loved the sport.

When I went to college, I told myself that if I wasn’t playing hockey at the highest level I could, I at least wanted to work in hockey.

And I found that early on in my collegiate career.

After interning with NHL Network and the Binghamton Devils, I got the opportunity to be on the New York Islanders beat–learning as much as possible over the last two seasons–a truly humbling experience.

When The Hockey News announced the launching of team-based sites, with Stan Fischler coming aboard on the Islanders’ side of things, I thought, “What a privilege and an honor that would be” to learn and talk hockey with The Maven, the legend who the Islanders press box is named after.

After a few conversations with The Hockey News, Stan Fischler and his camp, I’m thrilled to be coming aboard as their Islanders beat reporter.

To the fans over the last few years who have read my work and interacted with me on social media, I can’t thank you enough for the support, and I can’t wait to get started providing the best coverage I can at my new home.
