Lightning Struck In Third Period; Bolts Beat Rangers

The Lightning overcame deficits to defeat the Rangers 6-3 Thursday at Amalie Arena.

Not to worry.

So what if the Lightning overcame leads to kayo the New York Rangers in the third period 6-3 last night at Amalie Arena. (The Bolts were more motivated.)

So what if Igor Shesterkin had an off-night. (His teammates owed him a game-saver.)

So what if the home team out-roughed the New Yorkers. (Matt Rempe didn't play.)

So what if the Bolts scored four-straight goals in the final frame. (Jacob Trouba didn't play.)

You can call these alibis -- go ahead, The Maven won't get mad. Who knows, these clubs just might meet in the playoffs and wouldn't that be fun! That said, here are six points you should know about the Blueshirts blundering at the Bay:

1. First Period: Good Rangers; Second Period: Pretty bad Rangers; Third Period: Awful.

2. Blown Lead Department: Rangers led, 2-0 after one and also blew a 3-2 lead.

3. Jack Roslovic scored his first goal as a Blueshirt and is looking like a very good addition.

4. Don't blame Igor Shesterkin unless you can't help yourself; then do it.

5. Whoever was responsible for checking Braden Point should watch the videos. Wow! A hat trick and three assists.

6. Ditto for the Ranger who was on Nikita Kucherov who only totaled five points against New York.

Now for the good news. Next up for Peter Laviolette's lads tomorrow afternoon on the road is Humpty Pittsburgh; already out of the playoff race. This would be a good chance to figure out why Sidney Crosby's team never makes the playoffs. 

On Sunday afternoon, the Islanders will cross the county line and visit the Garden. Patrick Roy's crew hasn't scored a single goal in each of its last two games.
