As I gently pound these words on my keyboard, not a single Ranger has been traded -- and I'm delighted.

As I gently pound these words on my keyboard, not a single New York Rangers player has been traded -- and I'm delighted.

The Maven knows all about the negative bromide; If it's broke, fix it. But i like the 20-cylinder Blueshirt machine just as it is.

Mind you, it was just fine a year ago at this time, but nobody listened. The new guys arrived, mixed up the momentum and you know how the passion play ended.

Patrick Kane did as much for the Rangers as your sore back needs lumbago.

Do you think that the much advertised Adam Henrique -- much as I love the guy -- would make the Blueshirts a better team?

I doubt it, as I doubted the Vlad Taraseniko move last March.

Peter Laviolette's club has endured the NHL marathon in first place for a very good reason; it's a first-place team.

The goalkeepers are the best. The defense is well rounded from Jacob Trouba's blasts to Adam Fox's passes. The guns up front have assorted calibres and the Matt Rempe fourth line scares the sugar out of any equivalent foe.

Sure Mika Zibanejad has often looked like he's suffering through a hernia and that the Breadman went stale against the Devils in last year's hauntingly bad opening round.

Playoff slumps happen to the best of them, Who knows? This time around Panarin could be a Smythe Trophy-winner.

Most important is the fact that three-quarters of a season has developed chemistry on a first place team because there's classy talent up and down the line.

A year ago that chemistry was soured by the trade deadline deals. I say, learn from that experience.

Yeah, there are plenty of hours left for Drury to pull off a biggie. And more power to him if he does and it works.

But this Ranger machine of yours ain't broke so -- do yourself a favor, Chris, leave it be, fella, leave it be!
