The New York Rangers announced on Sunday that goaltender Jonathan Quick agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.275 million contract extension.
The news was first reported by ESPN's Kevin Weekes, with the Rangers sharing the news shortly thereafter:
Quick signed with the Rangers on a one-year, $925,000 contract this past offseason.
While he signed on to backup Igor Shesterkin, Quick has stepped up with the former Vezina Trophy winner struggling before the All-Star break. In 21 games between the pipes, the 38-year-old is 13-5-2 with a 2.45 GAA and .916 SV%, along with two shutouts.
Lifetime, Quick is 388-282-86 with a 2.47 GAA and .911 SV% with three Stanley Cups and two Jennings Trophies. He is also three wins shy of tying Ryan Miller's record for most victories by an American-born goaltender.
The Rangers return to the ice Monday night against the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden.
