Tarrytown, NY - New York Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko was a full participant at Wednesday's practice despite still being on injured reserve.
The 22-year-old forward was injured on Nov. 27th against the Buffalo Sabres and has steadily progressed from his lower-body injury over the last month.
Kakko recorded two goals and an assist in 20 games this season before his injury, with the Rangers going 13-7-1 (Jan 8th) with him out of the lineup. With Kakko returning, the Rangers will have to make lineup decisions as to where the winger will play.
Centerman Jake Leschsychen was recalled from Hartford of the American Hockey League, so the expectation is that he will play against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night while Kakko continues to take massive strides toward returning to the Rangers' lineup.
This story will be updated following practice.
