I knew Art Dorrington well and saw him play for the Atlantic City Sea Gulls in the old Eastern League after he signed a contract with the New York Rangers.
I went to A.C. and did a feature on Art who was a huge supporter and developer of youth hockey in the seaside resort. He was a solid forward with the Gulls and a wonderful guy as well.
My time spent with Dorrington at his home and hockey spots was memorable.
Whether he could have played in the six-team league is a question that never can be fully answered but, in my opinion Art had the goods!!!
