Stan Fischler US Hall Of Fame MSG New York Rangers [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/new-york-rangers/game-recaps/new-york-rangers-montreal-canadiens-7-4-sixth-straight-win] forward Chris Kreider [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/new-york-rangers/game-recaps/new-york-rangers-montreal-canadiens-7-4-sixth-straight-win] reached another milestone on Thursday night. His first of three goals, in an explosive 7-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens, gave Kreider his fifth 25-plus goal season. Kreider scored his 25th goal of the season at 11:09 of the second period after he rifled home a shot from the high slot: Then came No. 26, and No. 27 on the year, ending the beatdown of Montreal with a season stat line of 27 goals, with 24 assists and 51 points in 54 games. This fifth 25-plus goal season ascends Kreider to being tied for the fourth most in Rangers history. He now shares that fourth-place spot with current teammate Mika Zibanejad. Zibanejad likely reclaims sole possession of fourth place by the end of the 2023-24 season. Zibanejad currently has 17 goals in 53 games. At the top of the list is Rod Gilbert with eleven 25-plus goal seasons. Jean Ratelle and Andy Bathgate are in second and third place with eight and seven 25-plus goal seasons, respectively.
