During the 1947-48 season Tom Lockhart had more jobs within the club's vast – NHL to the low minors – organization than one can imagine. The native New Yorker was the Blueshirts' Business Manager and became the first executive of an NHL team – other than president or vice president – to be born in the United States. Igor Shesterkin Has Reportedly Rejected Contract Extension Paying Him $11 Million Per Season Apart from being Business Manager of the Blueshirts, Lockhart held down these jobs: 1. Business manager of the Rangers AHL farm club, the New Haven Ramblers. 2. Manager of the Rangers farm club, the New York Rovers of the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. 3. President of the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. 4. President and founder of the Amateur Hockey Association Of The U.S. (Now USA Hockey.) 5. Founder and head of the four-team Metropolitan Amateur Hockey League of New York. According to Rangers publicist Stan Saplin, "In the late 1940's Tom was without any doubt the busiest hockey executive of all-time, regardless of place of berth." Then a pause: "And, get this bit of irony, Tom never played hockey!"
