We all remember those summer days of childhood, having fun with our friends at the pool, the cottage, or maybe a treehouse in the backyard.
Claude Giroux's kids probably do all those things too. But they also appear to have made the Canadian Tire Centre their pseudo summer playhouse.
On Sunday, Giroux's family was having some fun, even making up their own games as they went. Three-year-old Gavin Giroux trucked up the stairs in bare feet to the top of the seating area in the lower bowl of the CTC. He then began trying to fire street hockey balls down to ice level into a tiny net on the concrete slab.
In a video posted on social media by his mom, Ryanne, Gavin fired one home, just like his dad did 35 times last season (career high). And that called for an epic celebration.
“Gavin likes pretty much every sport,” Claude told me an interview last summer. “He loves baseball and he’s slowly starting golf. And definitely a lot of hockey. During the season, he’s a little bit more into hockey because he sees the highlights and sees me at the warm ups and during the games.
"So, hockey is number one for him right now, but whatever he wants to do, we’re gonna be there."
With bloodlines and hands like that, it won't be too many years before players agents are suddenly there too.
