If the Senators decide to sign restricted free agent Alex DeBrincat to a long-term extension this summer (assuming he's open to it), they’ll be doing so with the assumption that his goal-scoring rate will return to its usual form. Two seasons ago, DeBrincat was among the NHL’s best.
Despite last season’s drop-off, DeBrincat remains one of the very best NHL goal scorers to ever suit up for the Senators. To put that statement to the test and to see where he actually ranks, we've compiled a top-ten list.
With many ways to judge the best goal scorers, we’ve opted to rank the players based on having at least 200 career NHL goals and playing at least one game for the Senators. The list is then sorted by goals per game.

DeBrincat has 187 goals and his goals/game is .41, which has him on pace to be in third place when he’s added to this list by this Christmas. The question is, was last year’s performance of just .33 goals/game an anomaly? Or did he actually leave some of that goal scoring touch back in Chicago?
