The Senators couldn't overcome a miserable start in Vancouver, falling 6-3 to the Canucks.

Tell us if you've heard this one before. The Senators had a game on Tuesday night and didn't show up on time. They got off to an awful start, falling behind 5-0 in the first period, and lost 6-3 to the Vancouver Canucks.

Anton Forsberg was pulled with 3:02 left in the first period after allowing 4 goals on 13 shots. Joonas Korpisalo didn't fare much better as he gave up a goal 55 seconds after entering the game. With the loss, the Senators dropped to 14-19-0 on the season.

Claude Giroux, who turns 36 next month, was one of the club's bright spots, almost singlehandedly willing the Senators back into the game with a goal and an assist.

The Senators pulled their goalie with 3 minutes left and were able to cut the Canucks lead to 5-3 when Vladimir Tarasenko shoved a rebound home at the side of the net.

But the comeback was halted 13 seconds later when Pius Suter scored off a complete blunder from Korpisalo. Suter chipped a puck softly in front of Korpisalo and it took a weird bounce over his glove to seal the 6-3 win for the Canucks.

Suter, who was cut from Senators training camp several years ago, had two goals and an assist. Thatcher Demko made 35 saves for the Canucks, who are 8-1-2 in their past 11 games

The Senators return to action on Thursday when they play the Seattle Kraken at 10pm Eastern time at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
