The Senators ended their five-game home losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames Saturday Night..

The Ottawa Senators broke their five-game home losing streak Saturday by beating the struggling Calgary Flames 4-1 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Drake Batherson led the charge with a goal and an assist for the Senators, who now head for the NHL Global Series in Sweden on a high, improving their record to 6-7-0.

Batherson's power-play goal in the second period made it 2-0 and stood up as the game-winner – a beautiful swat out of the air after a shot from Jakob Chychrun.

The Flames pushed back with a goal from Blake Coleman late in the second period. However, the Senators were able to settle down and punch back in the 3rd period with goals from Rourke Chartier and Travis Hamonic.

The Senators did have some injury scares. Joonas Korpisalo was run over when Nazem Kadri lost his balance and slid into Korpisalo's right pad, twisting it around the post. Korpisalo went down, and the trainer came out, but he continued playing. After the game, Korpisalo said his knee felt "alright."

Meanwhile, Artem Zub left the game in the last minute after banging heads with Vladimir Tarasenko. He went to the locker room in apparent pain and slammed his stick into the boards while leaving.

DJ Smith said Zub's exit was more precautionary but would wait to hear from the doctors. It was only Zub's second game after a concussion on October 18th.

As for the game, Smith was pleased with the team's performance.

"It's a real big game for us," Smith said. "I thought there were some real unselfish plays by our guys tonight. That just showed a maturity."

The Senators are excited about their trip to Sweden. Brady Tkachuk has assigned the tour guide duties to Swedish teammates Erik Brannstrom and Anton Forsberg.

"They've been the off-ice captains as of late," said Tkachuk. "(They) just set up some different things, so yeah, expectations are high, expecting a good time."

By the numbers: Joonas Korpisalo improved to a .907 save percentage. For the first time this season, Korpisalo's season save percentage is above .900. Chartier's goal was his first since the 2018-19 season with the San Jose Sharks.

The Senators (6-7-0) now head to Sweden tomorrow and will play the Detroit Red Wings (8-5-2) at 2pm Eastern Thursday afternoon.
