Zach Hyman's hat trick was all Edmonton would need for their seventh straight win.

The Ottawa Senators made a late push on Saturday night but it wasn't enough as the club lost its third straight, 3-1 to the Edmonton Oilers. Zach Hyman was the hero for Edmonton with a hat-trick, and Ottawa's Anton Forsberg was phenomenal with 43 saves in the loss.

The game started with a plethora of chances for the Oilers in the first two minutes of the game as Warren Foegele's shot off a rebound was pushed to the side by Forsberg as a scramble ensued.

The Senators went on a four-minute power play when Evander Kane high-sticked Claude Giroux. The Senators were flat throughout the power play, only mustering two shots on goal.

The second period was a track meet as both the Senators and Oilers traded chances. Connor McDavid found himself alone on Forsberg, but his forehand deke was swept aside by Forsberg’s pad.

Later, Parker Kelly was sprung all alone on a breakaway as he caught the Oilers napping on a line change, but his shot was punched away by Stuart Skinner’s blocker to keep the game scoreless.

The Oilers finally ended the deadlock when Evan Bouchard’s wrist shot on the power play beat a screened Anton Forsberg to put the Oilers up 1-0 at the 18:08 mark of the second period.

The third started with a bang for the Oilers as Hyman got in alone past the Senators on a poor line change, and his wrist shot squeaked under Forsberg’s arm. The puck trickled into the net to make it 2-0 Oilers.

The Senators had a power play midway through the 3rd period to try and cut the deficit to 1. Instead, Mattias Janmark had the best chance on a shorthanded breakaway, but his deke was denied by Forsberg.

The Senators cut the lead to 2-1 with 4:58 remaining in the third period when Parker Kelly shoved home the puck off a rebound after Brady Tkachuk had crashed the front of net with the puck. Initially, the goal was disallowed for goalie interference, but after the review, the referees determined they were wrong.

Kelly was one of Ottawa's top players in the game and was moved onto a line with Tkachuk and Ridly Greig that was effective all night.

Shortly after Kelly's goal, Artem Zub was called for interference on Foegele and Hyman completed his hat trick on the power play with 2:50 to go when he redirected a Connor McDavid pass at the side of the net. It was Hyman’s fourth career hat-trick.

The loss was the Senators' straight game to open their five-game road trip, as they fall to 14-21-0 on the season. Their next game is on Tuesday night against the Calgary Flames at 9pm Eastern.
