The Ottawa Senators pulled off one of their finest home efforts of the season on Thursday night, defeating the Dallas Stars 4-1. Josh Norris scored twice, while Thomas Chabot and Shane Pinto added singles.
Along with head coach Jacques Martin, those were the people The Hockey News heard from after the game.
Jacques Martin: "I thought we played an excellent game tonight. Probably the game where we did the best job at checking. I think our play away from the puck was good. Our D were good at getting back pucks and our forwards being available. We did a good job in the offensive zone and controlling the puck. This is a good team and I thought we did a real good job."
Thomas Chabot: "I think the biggest thing for us, going to the third with the lead, was to keep playing the same way and not give them anything. And I think we did a great job at that. Obviously, it was a great night for us through and through in the lineup. Everybody played a great game and it's obviously a great result.
Josh Norris on chipping in with two goals: "Yeah, it just feels good to contribute. Like I said earlier, it's been a little frustrating this year. I just want to do my part, and just taking it one day at a time right now."
Shane Pinto, on playing to the level of the opposition lately: "I don't really know. I think we do have to do a better job of being more consistent in all games, no matter who we play. But when we do play these top teams, it seems like we find a way to play our best"
The Senators will need their best again on Saturday night when the Vegas Golden Knights, the defending Stanley Cup Champs, come to town.
