If you logged off and spent your long Canada Day weekend at the cottage, you missed quite a bit in Sens Nation over the past seven days.

If you logged off and spent your long Canada Day weekend at the cottage, you missed quite a bit in Sens Nation over the past seven days.

Defenceman Jakob Chychrun was dealt to the Washington Capitals yesterday for hard-nosed right-shot defenceman Nick Jensen and a third-round pick in 2026. We looked at the deal and what Jensen brings to the table.

The Sens signed skilled free-agent winger David Perron to a two-year deal.  What does he have left in the tank? And how will Artem Zub feel about bringing in the guy who almost took his head off last season?

The bottom six got a boost with the signings of forwards Michael Amadio and Noah Gregor. Amadio was briefly a Senator before moving on to help Vegas win a Cup in 2023. Gregor will pick up the fourth-line slack after Parker Kelly and Mark Kastelic moved on.

Sens GM Steve Staios provided explanations for each of the Canada Day deals.

Erik Brannstrom and Parker Kelly are both done in Ottawa. Neither RFA received qualifying offers by Sunday's deadline. And both became UFAs.

Kelly signed a two-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche, while Brannstrom, as of July 2nd, hadn't been signed yet.

The Senators went big at the NHL Draft on the weekend, selecting twin towers on the blue line with their first two picks, Carter Yakemchuk and Gabriel Eliasson.

Last week, 2023 Vezina winner Linus Ullmark was traded to the Ottawa Senators by the Boston Bruins for Joonas Korpisalo, Mark Kastelic and a first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, which turned out to be Braeside's Dean Letourneau).

The Senators began development camp on Tuesday. We previewed camp with a glance at some of the more notable names on the camp roster.

Whew. Miss a little in Sens Nation, miss a lot.
