October has arrived and the glorious new NHL regular season isn't far behind. But before we look ahead, its time for the Ottawa Senators' week in review, as we summarize the top stories from the past seven days here at The Hockey News-Ottawa.

Be sure to bookmark this site so that you can easily click on it at your desk this week, rather than, say, working on your TPS reports. Mmm-kay?

GM Pierre Dorion got another new boss this week, his second in as many weeks. Steve Staios was officially hired as the Ottawa Senators' new President of Hockey Operations.

The Sens Nation Podcast discussed the Staios hiring in depth and his welcoming news conference.

Josh Norris and Brady Tkachuk both look like they'll be ready to return to preseason action sometime this week. Norris tweaked his shoulder just before camp and Tkachuk took a stick to the face, which initially had everyone panicking at practice.

On Friday night, the Senators assigned 14 players to Belleville and had to place 2019 first-rounder Lassi Thomson on waivers.

Mathieu Joseph has looked very good at camp so far. But he's also been mentioned as a possible trade chip that Pierre Dorion might use to solve his current salary cap bind. Is Mathieu Joseph a Trade Chip or Keeper?

We get into the Shane Pinto talks and how the Ottawa Senators Might Find the Cap Space

We have full coverage of the preseason action as well, with game reports and a look at the battles for jobs at training camp. The Sens have hit the halfway point of their exhibition schedule with a record of 3-1. They play their next two games out east on Sunday and Monday.

And, of course, we ask the big question: Will the Senators make the playoffs this season?
