The Ottawa Senators called up forward Cole Reinhardt from Belleville of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Reinhardt had an excellent pre-season for the Senators, putting up four points in an exhibition victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs last month.

If Reinhardt one day makes the NHL full-time, his calling card will be checking and two-way play, probably on the fourth line. That said, he can't seem to stop scoring. Before his recall, Reinhardt had two goals and five points in the B-Sens' first three games.

The Senators did well in the 2020 NHL draft, getting players like Tim Stutzle, Jake Sanderson, Ridly Greig, Tyler Kleven, and Leevi Merilainen. So it feels almost greedy to expect Reinhardt, the 181st pick they drafted as a 20-year-old, to pan out as well.

Reinhardt is mainly here as an extra body in case someone goes down during the road trip. If he gets into a game on the trip, the candidates to come out would be Adam Gaudette or Zack MacEwen. But if the Sens were legitimately auditioning forwards on this trip, they likely would have brought Zack Ostapchuk instead, the final cut at training camp.

Ridly Greig, who was Reinhardt's junior teammate for three years with the Brandon Wheat Kings, will likely miss more time with an upper-body injury.
