The Art Of Keeping Quinn: Nearing Demko Extension, Latest Move To Keep D-Man Hughes In Vancouver
The Vancouver Canucks have been one of the most active teams leading up to the NHL’s free agent frenzy. Last week, <a href="http://thn.com/vancouver">the Canucks</a> acquired <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks/latest-news/what-will-evander-kane-bring-to-the-vancouver-canucks">left winger Evander Kane</a> from the <a href="http://thn.com/edmonton">Edmonton Oilers</a> – an ostensible replacement for the likely departure of right winger Brock Boeser – and more recently, news arrived that <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks/latest-news/report-vancouver-canucks-and-conor-garland-nearing-six-year-contract-extension">right winger Conor Garland was signing a long-term contract extension with the Canucks</a>.
Another Flyers goalie option has bitten the dust.
Recent reports have indicated that Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko is making demonstrable progress on a contract extension with Vancouver, which would rule out a potential reunion with Rick Tocchet on the Flyers.
It may, however, open the door for an Arturs Silovs trade; the Latvian was the star of the Calder Cup playoffs for the AHL champion Abbotsford Canucks.
But, yeah, not a proven option at the NHL level. The market is drying up rather quickly here.
