New York Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri is out 6-8 months after tearing the ACL in his left knee, the team announced Saturday.

Palmieri, 34, suffered the injury in a collision with Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale in Friday night's game between the Flyers and Islanders.

Palmieri provided an assist while attempting to hobble off the ice with his injury, though the Flyers ultimately persevered and won 4-3 in the shootout.
