This former Flyers defenseman is expected to miss a good amount of time.

As Denver Barkey heads back to the London Knights after spending the last couple of months watching the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp from the sidelines, he reflects on his recovery from illness and coming back a stronger player than before.

Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is having an excellent 2024-25 season with the Carolina Hurricanes. In 35 games, the 5-foot-11 defenseman has six goals and 27 points. This is great production, especially when noting that the former Flyer is only carrying an affordable $3.2 million cap hit.

However, Gostisbehere's season will now need to be put on pause for what appears to be a decent amount of time.

While speaking to reporters, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour shared that Gostisbehere is dealing with an injury that is "more than day-to-day."

This is such tough news for Gostisbehere, especially when noting that he is having such a strong season. We will now need to wait and see how much time the offensive defenseman misses from here.

In 381 games over seven seasons as a Flyer, Gostisbehere had 60 goals and 219 points.
