Ryan Poehling scored a hat trick in his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens in 2019.
The Philadelphia Flyers aren't likely to be active in free agency this offseason, but they've already made one somewhat notable addition to the roster.
Saturday afternoon, the Flyers signed forward Ryan Poehling to a one-year contract worth $1.4 million.
Sportsnet's Jeff Marek was first to report the signing.
Poehling spent the 2022-23 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, logging seven goals and 14 points in 53 games.
The 24-year-old was selected in the first round (No. 25 overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. In his NHL debut in 2019, Poehling netted a hat trick and the winning goal in the shootout to guide the Habs to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Overall, the Minnesota native has scored 20 goals and 36 points in 138 NHL games.
Expect Poehling to compete for a spot centering the Flyers' fourth line in training camp.
