The Flyers' mascot, along with some friends, were on scene for the reopening of I-95.

Back on June 11, a portion of I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia collapsed as a result of an accident involving a tanker truck.

Friday, the destroyed section of I-95 was reopened after an expeditious rebuilding effort, and Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty was there to help reopen the interstate. Because of course he was.

Riding on top of a Philadelphia Fire Department ladder truck, Gritty, along with fellow Philly sports mascots Swoop, the Phanatic, Franklin, and Phang, were among the first to cross the new section of the interstate.

Gritty seems to be appearing everywhere these days. Back in April, the giant orange beast wreaked havoc at the White House. Now, he's escorting traffic down the most highly-publicized section of I-95 in recent memory.

    Simply amazing.

It should also be noted that the Flyers, Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, and Union banded together to raise $50,000 for the daughter of the tanker truck driver who died in the accident.

A very Philly way to get one of the United States' busiest interstates back up and running.
