It's back in the saddle for the orange and black.

Brandishing a hockey stick like a spear, John Tortorella's voice echoed throughout the Flyers' training facility, throwing words like staccato punches as he jabbed the stick in the direction of specific players in the crowd gathered around him.
"Not enough. Not enough. Not enough."
The echoing made it difficult to decipher exactly what else Tortorella said in his nearly five-minute sermon to his players, but phrases like "if you want more ice time..." and "more from everybody" could be caught in between the garble. Despite saying in his post-Stadium Series game press conference that the team just had to "move by [the loss against the Devils]," it was clear that Tortorella's players wren't getting off easy.
The Flyers did laps, laps, and more laps around the ice in between training exercises. Red-faced with hands on knees, panting like the dogs their (in)famous mask is modeled after, they ran through drills in front of some scattered fans in the bleachers and the watchful eye of GM Danny Briere, who observed from a balcony overlooking the ice.
The practice sounds harsh, sure. But in Tortorella's own simple words, "I just coached."
In the aftermath of the outdoor series game and the looming trade deadline, there's a lot of talk surrounding the Flyers: who's in, who's out, what needs to be fixed, whether or not the 11/7 is actually working...and it's all just noise as the Flyers focus on their mid-week matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks—a game that Tortorella admitted "scares the s—" out of him.
"That's what I'm worried about," Tortorella said after practice ended. "Chicago plays hard. They're in all the games. I just don't want us to think, 'Outdoor game, Jersey, we just played Toronto, and now we're playing a team that's last.'"
It would be easy for the players to view this struggling Blackhawks team as more of a softball to ease them back "regular" games after the "pompenstance" (that word being an original Tortorella creation) of the Stadium Series.
"I just don't want them to play with their minds because it's too important of a game for us," he said. "I just don't think you should disrespect any opponent. I'm not saying we will, but I have to worry about that as the coach of a team. I have to worry about that after all the [pomp and circumstance] and stuff that goes on with the outdoor game. Coming back home, practicing, going to Chicago, playing a game, then coming back home, and you start the regular season again. I have to worry about that."
Another thing he has to worry about is managing a team that could lose familiar faces and add in new ones to fit into the system. Keith Jones and Danny Briere are holding their cards close to the vest, but of course they're looking out for what's going to benefit this team the most.
When asked if the trade deadline motivates the players to work harder to prove that they want to stay in this team, Tortorella revealed, "They do. They have. They work hard."
He continued: "It's a situation where, the way we explained it to them, we are still in the middle of a process. No matter where we are in the standings right now, no matter what people think we are or going to be, we have a mindset. We have conversations daily about where we are as an organization, and we're not going to leave that. It's a slippery slope when you start getting like, 'Ah, let's keep it this way.' You can't do that. We have to continue to build."
The Flyers will play in Chicago against the Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. EST.
