The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Jan. 22 that right winger Bobby Brink has officially been loaned out to the Flyers' AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Brink has not featured very heavily for the Flyers in January, barely clocking 10 minutes of ice time in all but one of the seven games he's played in this month. He's been healthy scratched for the last six games—most notably when the Flyers visited his home state of Minnesota to play the Wild—and didn't dazzle fans whenever he did see ice time.

Olle Lycksell, in turn, has been called up to the Flyers. His last outing in the NHL was Dec. 7, where his ice time was kept to a measly 6:11.

Although it's been disappointing to see Brink's sharp decline in confidence and falling out of favor with Tortorella, loaning him out to the Phantoms could actually be the best thing for him. There's no doubt that Brink will see much more playing time in the AHL, which will be just the tonic he needs to get called back up to the Flyers and make a serious push for more regular playing time in Tortorella's lineup.
